Hello, welcome back and welcome new families!
Thanks for introducing yourselves to us. We are very fortunate to have Abby Burgess teaching with us at Afterschool this year. She knows some of you and your children from summer camp and from Apple Tree Adventures, she is an experienced outstanding outdoor educator with a wonderful kind rapport with the children, and she is much better organized than yours truly. It has been an exciting and fun-filled couple of weeks. Thank you all for being so well organized and responsive and prompt AND patient! There continue to be many documents to sign and we appreciate your follow through with these.
We DO now receive information from Pick-up Patrol, and we rely on that list when we take attendance. Please let us know directly if you have a change of plans for Afterschool that is not reflected in Pick-up Patrol. We plan for parent pick-up from 5:00-5:30 If you need to pick up before 5:00, please let us know. Email works in advance, Brightwheel is good or texting is great as the moment gets closer. Despite the best laid plans, if you are not sure where to find us, please text and we can arrange the best rendez-vous.
We are still enjoying beautiful weather each afternoon and looking forward to Fall. Please be sure to send your child with a healthy snack, water bottle, extra layers, and weather proof gear.

After School Curriculum
After school students have a variety of activities and outdoor discovery to choose from. Some activities may be scheduled and others will be based on student interest. Each day students see a choice and cast their vote on the whiteboard.
Thus far their choices have included:
Sunset Rock, Field Games, Hillside Forts, Rec Path Ramble, Streamside Discovery, Forest Forts, Pavement Play, ..
As weather helps us choose more inside time, we look forward to more:
Story telling, Reading, Arts & Crafts, Homework Club, Cross Cultural Celebrations, Chess club,..
If you have a skill or hobby or club to share with our Afterschool program, we would love to have you join us. Please reach out to schedule with us.
Onsite Biking
Please feel free to bring bikes, scooters, etc. and helmets for our Rec. Path Ramble on Thursdays starting Thursday, September 18. Park bikes at the bike rack near the library.
Offsite Activities
TBD We are still in the planning stage of our offsite Activity which will likely be offered on Tuesdays. Offsite activities require registration and an additional fee.
Don’t miss our Vacation Discovery Days!
Last week we kicked off our vacation days with an exciting visit to ECHO. (If you haven’t been lately, don’t miss the Rube Goldberg exhibit while it’s still here. The recent upgrades to the aquarium are outstanding and their hands on displays just keep getting better.) On Thursday, 10/2 we have a full day discovery Adventure. We are excited to hike Mount Elmore together (weather permitting) and hope to climb the fire tower!
