We had a fantastic trip to Shelburne farms on Monday! It felt good to be back together with Abby and all the Afterschool kids! I enjoyed covering for Kendra at MES while she was on vacation, but I’m glad to be back with all of you at SES. Don’t blink. I will be away for a week myself for the last week in October; the 27th – 31st.
What to Bring
Nothing beats Indian summer. What an amazing run of spectacular weather! Afterschool is humming along smoothly as students settle into a nice rhythm of choosing which outdoor activities they want to try each day. And now, just as most kids have become successful at remembering their snack and water bottle, the season is changing and the “what to bring list” is exploding. It’s time to wear coats and hats and bring mittens and extra layers in their backpacks. Now we need outdoor shoes (boots) and indoor shoes (sneakers) at afterschool every day. (Our regulations do not permit sliding around in only our socks.)
Warm outdoor gear is the key to enjoying outside play. If anyone needs help with any winter gear, please let us know. We can help.
Biking
We will continue biking on Thursdays. If you bring a bike or a scooter, be sure to bring a helmet that fits well.
Ghost Walk
Apple Tree Learning Centers will be participating in the annual Ghost Walk again this year. Afterschool will take place after the ghost walk in the cafeteria as usual. Please let us know if you plan to be at Afterschool or if you decide to bring your child home after the ghost walk.
Afterschool Offsite Activities
Swimming for 1st graders and older on Tuesdays. We will be swimming at the Bluebird Cady Hill indoor pool. We will try to get our first swim in this coming Tuesday, October 21. We will swim on every other Tuesday for the first few weeks: October 21, November 4, 18. And then four straight weeks in December: 2,9,16,23. I can take exactly 6 swimmers. Register HERE.
